Our Story

Kareem and Lucianne’s journey together began at the historic Spanish Town Cathedral Church, St. Jago de la Vega, when they were just teenagers. Initially, they were barely aware of each other's existence, despite attending the same Sunday school, participating in youth services, and joining church trips.

As they grew older, they transitioned into the regular adult services following their confirmation, marking the beginning of a unique and beautiful story. For Kareem, everything changed when he first took an interest in Lucianne. While she remained blissfully oblivious, church attendance took on new meaning for him. Each Sunday, he would scan the congregation, hoping to catch a glimpse of Lucianne sitting with her parents on the opposite side of the church. Communion became a highlight, a chance to pass by her pew and feel a spark of connection, even if unspoken. Kareem was patient, waiting for the right moment to approach her. They eventually became friends and exchanged Facebook information, opening a new channel of communication. His interest in Lucianne grew steadily, and he made several attempts to get closer, all of which she unknowingly brushed aside.

During a period of about two years, Lucianne's attendance at church became sporadic. She rarely went on church trips, and her absence did not go unnoticed by Kareem. Despite her absence, he never gave up hope, always looking for her at church events and sending occasional messages on Facebook. Though she responded cordially, she remained distant, and Kareem slowly began to accept that she might not share his feelings. He imagined all sorts of scenarios: perhaps she had joined another church, gotten married, or even moved abroad. Yet, she never strayed far from his thoughts.

Then, one day, Lucianne returned to church and began attending regularly once again. By this time, Kareem had relocated from Spanish Town and was attending a church in his new community. However, he occasionally visited his old church, driven by nostalgia and the faint hope of seeing Lucianne again. On one of these visits, fate intervened. As Kareem entered the familiar sanctuary, his eyes scanned the pews, and there she was—Lucianne, sitting with her parents in their usual spot across the church. His heart raced, and the years of waiting and wondering suddenly seemed worth it. Their story, which began with subtle glances and unspoken words, was far from over.

That chance encounter marked the beginning of a new chapter, one filled with the promise of rekindled friendship and the potential for something more. The journey of Kareem and Lucianne is a testament to patience, hope, and the unexpected paths that lead them to where they are meant to be.
